I love authentic images. Images that show real moments, real emotions, and real personalities. Images observed and captured in a fraction of a second rather than controlled and orchestrated. Images that show the magic of real life.
This is the focus of my wedding photography. Moments that are undirected (and many times unexpected) and images that tell the story of the day.
There will be little direction from me during most of the day. I'll be getting great images while you enjoy your wedding. Of course, I also photograph family and groups, but in a relaxed and natural way, and in a minimum amount of time. The rest of the day is captured as it unfolds. Your wedding photographs will be as unique as your wedding.
Wedding coverage is custom-designed for each client. All weddings include photography by Jim Banks, a private web site for online viewing / ordering, and your choice of either a bound image proofing catalog or a boxed set of proof prints. Coverage is available either with or without a custom-made album.

I love real images of kids. Not kids that are frozen and smiling at the camera, but real kids showing real personalities (and sometimes some real dirt). I capture these fleeting moments of childhood by letting kids be themselves.
I photograph kids on location, either in your own home or in a place special to you. No props, no backdrops, no poses - - just real kids being themselves.

A full-time professional since 1992, I've had a lifelong interest in photography. I've never thought that wedding photographs need to be stiff or posed, nor that wedding photographers should direct the event.
My kids photography follows a similar philosophy. The more relaxed the atmosphere, the more authentic the photograph becomes.
